Associates

PROM/SE Associates are teachers—one selected for each building in each partner district—who serve as the building-level resource and connection between MSU, the partner districts, the school, and the teachers.

They are the critical linkage in accomplishing our goal to promote significant improvement in K-12 mathematics and science teaching and learning.

Through the world-class professional development program we are building, PROM/SE Associates will be uniquely qualified to:

  • Understand and interpret assessment data
  • “Unpack” and apply state standards in the classroom
  • Develop district/building-specific action plans to
    address gaps
  • Lead peer-groups in collaborating on these efforts
  • Assist peers in accessing and utilizing PROM/SE
    professional development

Associate Requirements

  • Attend PROM/SE Associate Institutes and weekend
    professional development sessions
  • Lead peer-to-peer discussion groups and activities
    at the local level
  • Mentor and coach peers in PROM/SE-related
    practices and activities

Associate Opportunities

  • Discover how to lead mathematics and science
    education reform at the building level
  • Learn to use data and empirically-based tools that
    improve classroom instruction
  • Enhance content knowledge and learn how it
    relates to grade-specific standards
  • Build a peer network that enhances the practices
    of mathematics and science teachers
