Data-Driven Project

The design of all PROM/SE activity is predicated on the gathering of an extraordinary amount of detailed, curriculum-sensitive baseline data. This includes testing some 250,000 – 300,000 students, having approximately 7,000 teachers fill out 2 questionnaires, having some 600 principals fill out a questionnaire, and having 62 districts fill out 2 questionnaires.

As we have indicated, the compressed timeline and scope of this effort have placed enormous pressure on our school district partners, and the district-level assessment liaisons have done an extraordinary job, in collaboration with the MSU-based Assessment Team, to enact this data-gathering undertaking. At this time, results from the student and teacher assessments and questionnaires are being analyzed.

We have delivered a first wave of district and school reports at the Mathematics Associates’ Summer Institute in August. At this time, we will be working with Associates and district level administrators to interpret the data and to make very detailed action plans at the building level for improving the results in mathematics and science learning.
