PROM/SE: Promoting Rigorous Outcomes in Mathematics and Science Education
Associate Requirements
- Be a math and/or science teacher in a participating school district
- Serve as a building-level resource and connection between MSU, the
partner districts, the school, and the teachers
- Lead peer-to-peer discussion groups and activities at the local level
- Mentor and coach peers in PROM/SE-related practices and activities
- Attend PROM/SE Associate Institutes and weekend professional
development sessions
Associate Leadership
- Discover how to lead mathematics and science education reform at
the building level
- Learn to use data and empirically-based tools that improve
classroom instruction
- Enhance content knowledge and learn how it relates to
grade-specific standards
- Build a peer network that enhances the practices of mathematics and
science teachers
Special Professional Development training to
- Understand and interpret building level assessment data
- "Unpack" and apply state standards in the classroom
- Develop district/building-specific action plans to address gaps
- Act as facilitators and lead peer-groups in collaborating on these efforts
- Assist peers in accessing and utilizing PROM/SE professional development
- Strengthen content background and designing lessons that reach students
